Together in the heart of the city
expressing God’s heart for the nations
Our distinctives reflect the unique culture, values, and practices we believe we have been called to as the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle. These are as follows;
A Light to the City
We are called to be a vibrant and influential church located at the top of Queen Street in the heart of Auckland city reflecting the truth and grace of Jesus, the true light of the World
A Multi-Cultural Family
We are called to be a multi-cultural family of people from all nations and ethnic backgrounds. In this we will seek to value and be enriched by our cultural differences, living in respect and unity for each other out of our love for Jesus
The People of the Tabernacle
We are called to be one church made up of multiple congregations and ministries, distinct in our expressions but collaborative and unified in our efforts, working together as the collective ‘People of the Tabernacle’ for the honour of Jesus
God’s Church in the World
We are called to be carriers of God’s message of hope and transformative love to our world. It has been rightly said that it is not the Church of God that has a mission in the world, but that theGod of Mission has a Church in the world. We desire to be a church that intentionally expresses the mission of God wherever he calls us to have influence in our world in Jesus name
We are called to be life-long learners and lovers of God’s Word. We believe the Bible to be God’sinspired revelation of truth, and as such is our final authority in all aspects of life and faith as we follow Jesus together.
Empowered for Service
We are called to be empowered to serve in life and in ministry as the Lord has gifted and enabled us, regardless of background, gender, or ethnicity. This is evidenced in our empowering of those who are called to lead as servant leaders among us, and in our empowering of every member to express their influence and ministry as faithful servants and representatives of Jesus in the whole of life.
Led by the Spirit
We are called to be led by and reliant upon the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit, expressed in our services, in our times of prayer, in our decision-making, in our Church Meetings, in our ministries, in our relationships, and in the living out of our witness for Jesus
