PARKING
Parking is available at the Mercury Lane carpark accessible via Mercury Lane. Sunday rate is reduced. Parking is available at Upper Queen St. carparks. Parking on a Sunday is free at the covered City Coucil carpark, but Pay And Display at the adjacent uncovered lot. Parking is available at the rear of the church at no charge on Sundays; access via the driveway to the right of the Tabernacle. Please abide by the traffic signals. Thank you. Located at the top of 429 Queen St., The Auckland Baptist Tabernacle is in the heart of Auckland City, just North of Karangahape Road. Browse the map for directions and parking locations.
How does it work?
The parking equipment is similar to other car parks in the city. You take a ticket from the machine when you arrive which raises the barrier arms. When you come to leave you pay to get your ticket validated before returning to your car. In our case the pay station is the church office. Once validated you put your ticket into the machine as you exit and this raises the barrier arms.
What does this mean to Church attendees?
Nothing changes, on Sunday the barrier arms will be up, allowing people attending church to freely enter and exit without charge. Follow the directions of the parking marshals who wear the yellow vests.
What if I come to the church for a meeting during business hours?
You take a ticket as if you were coming into any public car park. Park in the spaces marked "Tabernacle Church Visitor" on the lower level (B2). Before you leave you get your ticket validated in the church office for no charge and exit as normal.
What if I come to a church meeting outside of business hours?
Again you take a ticket that raises the barrier arms as you enter, but before you leave you validate your ticket at the machine which is situated outside the office next to the church kitchen on Level 2. There is no charge.
After validating my ticket how long have I got to exit the car park?
You need to exit within 10 minutes of validating your ticket.
What if I use the car park during business hours for other than church activities?
You will be required to pay the standard fee based on the length of time parked.
What happens if I want to use the car park outside of business hours for other than church activities?
If there is no church meeting on then you would not be able to access the church building to validate your ticket, and therefore could not get your car out. For example, if you came in on a Saturday while there was a meeting which you weren't attending and parked in the car park, then, if the meeting had finished when you returned, you run the risk of having your car locked in overnight.
What happens if my car is locked in overnight?
You either come back the next day, or contact the after hours number to have the roller door/barrier arms raised for you. This will incur a fee of $40 that you will need to pay in advance.
Can I drop people off in the driveway prior to going into the car park?
Very definitely NO! This has caused several near misses as following cars are unable to fully enter the driveway and have almost been collected by cars coming down Queen Street.
REMEMBER the four simple steps when using the car park at any time:
-Follow the arrows.
-Stop at the double yellow line.
-Wait for the lights to turn green (at night, this also raises the roller door).
-Put your ticket into the machine at the barrier arm to raise the barrier
